May Baldwin

I am trying to discover more about the author, May Baldwin, who was a prolific writer of books for girls circa 1900-1940. The family were in India, I suspect in the late 1800's, but her brother, Hugh Rose, moved to Kenya, where she subsequently visited or lived with him. Three of her books are set in Kenya: Only Pat - A Nairobi School Girl (1922), The School in the Wilds (1925) and Kenya Kiddies - A Story of Settlers' Children in East Africa (1926). If anyone can help please contact me. Meanwhile, take a look at my collection of her books. Click here

Bessie Marchant

Born Elizabeth Marchant in 1862 in Petham, Kent, England, she married Jabez Ambrose Comfort (a Baptist Minister) in 1889 and died 1941 in Charlbury, Oxfordshire, England. Another prolific author with over 150 titles to her name, her books are set all over the world - despite the fact that she never left England. Her adventurous tales earned her a reputation as 'The Girl's Henty'. Click here for a list of her books in order of publication:
