BookIT Enterprises

BookIT sells used and out-of-print books, primarily genre fiction like mystery and science fiction. We carry paperbacks, hardcovers, and fiction magazines, from the early 1800's to yesterday

It doesn't matter whether you locate a title from our search box, located on every window, our archived catalogs (these are more complete catalogs, but could be out of date), or our pre-formatted catalogs (which are accurate within 24 hours, but because books can span many catalogs, and they only appear in this section within 1 catalog, may not appear in the catalog you are looking at).

Simply click on the shopping cart symbol or the words 'Add to Cart', and the title will go into your shopping cart. (if you do so, and the catalog you were on disappears, or you are shown a different one, just use the 'Back' button on your browser to go back to the page you were on.)

At any time, you may use the View Shopping Cart link to change your order, or delete items ordered in error.

To finish your order, go to View Shopping Cart, and follow the Submit Order link. This takes you to a page where you can fill in your shipping information, your email (very important, as we will send your confirmation to his address), and your payment method.

When you have filled this in, click the Submit button, and a confirmation of your information will appear on screen. A copy will also be sent to you by email, and a copy will be sent to our order desk.

Next, we verify that the book is available, compute the appropriate postage, and send you a final confirmation that your order is ready.

Once payment is made for the final order, the books will be shipped to you promptly.

Optionally, you can set up a login and password for yourself, in the Create an Account box. If you do so, the shopping cart will remember your shipping and contact information from one order to the next, and items you place in your shopping cart will stay there until you delete them or place the order, regardless of whether you quit your session, or even switch to another computer. (If you do not have a login and password, your shopping cart is emptied when you leave our site.) No credit card information is kept in this file.

ABOUT US

Bookit Enterprises Inc. was founded in 1988, to market Bookit software, software on which I had worked for many years while developing our previous company, Pandora's Books, into one of the leading sellers of out-of-print genre fiction.

While still being part owners, and involved in joint ventures with Pandora's, we no longer have an active role in their day-to-day operations, leaving those functions to the very able Tim Friesen. As we operate BookIT from our home, Pandora's also warehouses much of our inventory, looks after some of our order fulfillment, and handles our credit card transactions.

After a few years of semi-retirement, however, we have gone back into the book selling business. Our Winnipeg stock consists mainly of authors in which I have a particular interest, with the rest warehoused by Pandora's Books. Many of these are represented on the author checklist pages. I have been reading and collecting science fiction and mysteries since 1959, and selling books since 1965. I am fairly knowledgeable in these fields, but have little pretensions to book knowledge outside of these areas.

We are not open to the public, doing all of our business by mail-order. We do not issue catalogs, preferring to archive catalogs on our web-site, or prepare individual, tailored catalogs on the request of individual customers. We also keep a listing of our recent acquisitions in the archive.

As well as selling books, I have done a little bit of publishing, including 15 issues of a magazine called The Science-Fiction Collector/Megavore, a magazine devoted to bibliography in the science fiction field, and The Tanelorn Archives, a bibliography of Michael Moorcock. I have also written articles on books and book collecting for a number of magazines and reference books, and you will probably find my name in the credits in others, as well, like paperback price guides, bibliographies, etc.
